FAQ

Below are some of the most common questions we are asked. If you don’t find the answers to your questions, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help you find out more about domes.
What are geodesic domes used for?

We have domes being used as homes, garages, duplexes, offices, churches, sport bars/restaurants, retreats, ski lodges, mini malls, vacation rentals, cabins, Tai Chi Studio, storage facilities, horse arenas, greenhouses, ice core drilling rig cover, indoor swimming pool covers…and more.
Do domes leak?

It would be accurate to say “roofs leaks”. You can get
any roof to leak, if you don’t know how to roof it. We
know how and show you and your roofer the right way.

What are some of the benefits of living in your geodesic dome homes?

Within the free span, self-supporting design of our  geodesic dome homes comes the sense of spaciousness and comfort. It allows for your creative dome home floor plan that you can have to suit your desired lifestyle. Our celestial skylights make even gray days seem bright and pleasant. And to add to your comforts, the heating and cooling are top rated for energy efficient homes.

How long does it take to build your geodesic dome home?

Once the foundation is in, the geodesic dome shell kit can be up in a long weekend…then the skylights, flashing and roofing. Total time to enclosure depends on labor and could be done in a month. Generally, construction loans are for 9 months but most projects are finished well within this time.

Do you ventilate your roof system as required by the Uniform Building Code (UBC)?

Yes, click here for an explanation.

What do you mean by High, Low, and Mid Profile?

As the Dome is a section of the sphere:
Low Profile = 3/8’s,
Mid Profile  = 4/8’s and
High Profile = 5/8’s  of the sphere.
